Star Wars Episode VIII Finds Director/Writer
The newest installment in the Star Wars saga has not even finished production and they've already found their next writer/director for Episode VIII. Rian Johnson has been tapped to pen the script and direct the second film in the new trilogy.
J.J. Abrams is in the process of directing Episode VII (December 18, 2015) with Star Wars alums, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill returning with a group of Galactic newbies joining them. Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters) and Josh Trank (Chronicle) are set to direct the two stand alone films that will be coming out between trilogy films.
Rian Johnson previously worked on such stand out films as Brick, The Brothers Bloom, and Looper. Are you guys excited by this news? How optimistic are you about this new slate of Star Wars films? Is it gonna be Star Wars overload?
