It was reported earlier today that Edgar Wright and Marvel were parting ways. The film was already deep into production. Marvel and Wright released the following statement about the separation:
โMarvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their visions of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.โ
The film is set to star Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson. Wright had been attached to this property since 2006 when plans began for Iron Man and Ant-Man. My question to you all...are you worried? Could this be the first real hiccup in Marvel's otherwise unblemished Cinematic Universe? Do you have confidence that they'll find a suitable replacement for Wright's genius vision?
