Cable network TNT is working on a deal to produce a pilot based on the teenage super team, Teen Titans from DC that would be called 'Titans.' Akiva Goldsman (Fringe, A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend, and also Batman & Robin) is writer/executive producer on the project with Warner Horizon Television producing. Goldsman and writer Marc Haimes are working on the script. This would add to the increasingly large number of DC Comics television adaptations that are already in production. Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine will be airing soon, along with the rumored Supergirl pilot that's being shopped around.
The pilot has been described as Dick Grayson "emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and many others. 'Titans' is a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever."
As of the team itself, it's roster has seen a lot of names come and go. More notably the roster has included Nightwing/Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Ravager, Blue Beetle, Miss Martian, Aqualad, and Speedy (Roy Harper). Recently in the comics Wonder Girl, Superboy, Kid Flash, and new character Bunker, with Red Robin (Tim Drake) serving as their leader in the New 52 incarnation. The book was just changed again with it's team consisting of Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Bunker, Beast Boy, and Raven. Harper and Starfire currently are running around with Red Hood in the book 'Red Hood and the Outlaws' which I thoroughly enjoy.
Recently, actor Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries) took to Twitter to stir up some commotion that he was working out to portray Dick Grayson/Nightwing possibly on 'Arrow.' But he has since stated that he was just hoping to be considered for the role...personally I was campaigning for him to get the role and I still think he should be considered or at least audition.
Keep in mind, this show is not in production yet. It hasn't been bought and it may not be bought. Lots of shows get a pilot order and are never heard from again....like the 'Aquaman' series on the WB?
