In a deal with Sony and Marvel Entertainment, Spider-Man is coming home...sort of. Part of this new deal allows a NEW Spider-Man to be in an upcoming Marvel Film (likely to be Captain America: Civil War). Sony will then release the next installment in the Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017 with Marvel's Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal co-producing. Marvel and Sony are also working on ways to collaborate by having other MCU characters entering Sony's Spider-verse. What does this mean for the Sinister Six film that was already in development? It appears it's still in development with Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, Cabin in the Woods) still attached as writer but the release date will likely get pushed back.
Spidey was recently seen on the big screen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Andrew Garfield returning to the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Before that we saw Tobey Maguire slinging webs and quipping with the best of them in Sony's first foray into the Spider-Man franchise of films. We have to wait to see who might next portray the wall crawler and we don't know when we may first see him in an MCU film so let the speculation and fantasy casting begin!
Because of this new deal, Thor: Ragnarok will be pushed back to November 3rd, 2017, Black Panther will now be released on July 6th, 2018 which moves Captain Marvel to November 2nd, 2018 and Inhumans to July 12th, 2019. However, the two-part Avengers: Infinity War saga remains set for May 4th, 2018 and May 3rd, 2019.
