Arrow/Flash Spin-Off Series!

By: Dave Clark

Last month Deadline reported that The CW had ordered a new series that would spin-off from both Arrow and The Flash and would incorporate at least two main characters that spawned from each series. Brandon Routh, who was introduced during the current season of Arrow as Ray Palmer aka The Atom and Victor Garber who made his debut as Doctor Martin Stein otherwise known as one half of Firestorm on The Flash (No word yet if the other half, played by Robbie Amell, would be starring as well).

Joining them would be Wentworth Miller who is currently portraying Flash villain Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold. Now in the current run of the Justice League comic book, Captain Cold is assisting new League member Lex Luthor as his head of security. Snart is technically working as a good guy at this point. As a whole, Cold isn't a ruthless villain, he's more of a mastermind and thief. He even fought against the Crime Syndicate in the Forever Evil arc. So it is possible he may be a reformed villain in this new series, but I believe this would be too soon into his character's story to do such a large turn on the series.

A fourth star was also named, Caity Lotz, who until recently portrayed Sara Lance aka The Canary. I say until recently because (SPOILERS) she was killed off on Arrow in a major story arc involving Thea Queen and Ra's al Ghul and his League of Assassins. Whether or not she's continuing to portray Lance is yet to be revealed but that would pose a few problems...seeing how she's no longer of the living. Rumors have her possibly being resurrected in one of Ra's al Ghul's many Lazarus pits, or possibly being in flashbacks, but in any case I'm just happy she's staying within the DC Television Universe.

This past week we got news about three roles that were needed to be cast. TVLine is reporting that a casting call was sent out looking for the following characters to be cast:

THE TRAVELER - Described as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.

FEMALE WARRIOR - This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.

MYSTERY HERO - An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.

Let the speculation begin on to who these characters could be, as the Deadline report also states that they will debut three prominent DC Characters that have never been seen in a TV series. I think that rules out Booster Gold as THE TRAVELER because he did appear in an episode of Smallville. It could also eliminate Static as the MYSTERY HERO because he did have his own animated series...but that doesn't count as a TV appearance in my opinion.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to this third DC series to debut on The CW? Which DC characters do you believe these three roles are describing? Sound off below!
