Since it’s debut back on September 22nd, 2014, Gotham has been met with some harsh criticism from the most hardcore of Batfans. A lot of the hatred comes from people not liking the show’s creative take on the origins of some of our favorite characters from the Batfamily and their villains. Personally, I think they’re missing the point. In my humble opinion, this show does NOT serve as an origin to Batman, or even to Commissioner James Gordon. This show is an alternative look at the origins of Gotham City itself, and those that would inhabits it’s dangerous streets.
Last month Deadline reported that The CW had ordered a new series that would spin-off from bothArrow and The Flash and would incorporate at least two main characters that spawned from each series. Brandon Routh, who was introduced during the current season of Arrow as Ray Palmer aka The Atom. Victor Garber who made his debut as Doctor Martin Stein otherwise known as half of Firestorm on The Flash (No word yet if the other half, Robbie Amell, would be starring as well).
This will be the year of Comic Book TV shows. We've had shows in the past, notably Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, and Smallville. More recently we have Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but this year we will see Gotham, Constantine, and The Flash join the fold. Netflix will premiere five shows available to stream from Marvel Television, Daredevil being the first in 2015 and then Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and eventually The Defenders. And now we're getting word that DC is shopping the idea of a Supergirl television show in the near future.
