Last week, before the trailer emerged online in a cellphone footage, pirated fashion, we were told by Zack Snyder himself that there would be a huge preview event to see the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer before it hit the internet in grand IMAX fashion.
Of course, then the video would be bootlegged and uploaded to the internet. Instead of reacting with anger and hate, Snyder posted the real thing via Twitter in full 1080p glory.
But what about us folks who were psyched to see this thing on the big screen? Well they went ahead with their plans to release the trailer in select cinemas across the nation. For those who couldn't make it to one of these events, or didn't have one in their city, I'm sorry. But at least we all still got to see the trailer on Friday.
It was first come, first served. I got to my theater about 90 minutes before showtime (I live in the Central time zone, so the east coast got to see it an hour before us). There was little to no line when I arrived, in fact there were maybe a little more than a dozen diehards there.
I noticed on Twitter, that people on east coast were tweeting photos of this small ticket (I took a picture of mine but it's pretty bad with the flash in a dark theater). Printed on the ticket pretty much told the story, it was a ticket to see the full film at a date sometime in the week before the full release of the film! Once we were in the theater, an employee read a statement from the studio and then explained that we'd write our email addresses on the back of the ticket, exchange that for two very cool posters and we'd receive our tickets via email.
So to sum up, thank you Zack Snyder! And thank you to whomever was stupid and leaked the trailer. Because of your impatience and lack of integrity, we get to see the film a littler early....oh and what about the trailer? Was there any added footage? The trailer itself looked spectacular on the IMAX screen. There was one little clip at the end of the trailer and for those who don't want to know, you've been warned....
After Batman asks Superman if he bleeds, we still see the film's logo and the release date and then we see Superman's face. He begins to run full speed (but not super speed) and then we see armored Batman running towards him and the footage ends just before they meet in the middle! INTENSE!
