So after having a fun conversation with a friend of mind and with the release of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' the MCU count being at an even ten I figure ranking the MCU might be fun. Now the Phase Two plan from Marvel ends with 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' but ten is such a nice even, clean number so we'll rank the first ten films of the MCU in order of favorite to least favorite. I say "least favorite" because there's not one MCU film I hated. So I'll get the ball rolling and then all of you fellow AG'ers out there can chime in with your lists and opinions of my list. Here goes!
Just a day ago we heard news that Adrianne Palicki was cast as Mockingbird on this season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for at least one episode. Now we get word that Brian Patrick Wade has been cast to play Carl “Crusher” Creel aka Absorbing Man.
Looks like another evil archer will be visiting the streets of Starling City. Matt Ward (TRON: Legacy, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) has been cast to play Simon Lacroix aka Komodo. Komodo was introduced in Green Arrow's New 52 run and it looks like he'll make his first appearance on Arrow during episode two and he won't necessarily be a one-shot villain.
They hinted towards this at SDCC with Patton Oswalt's humorous video clip, now its official. Barbara "Bobbie" Morse aka Mockingbird has been cast and the actress playing her is Adrianne Palicki (Supernatural, G.I. Joe, Friday Night Lights.) This isn't her first foray into the televised adventures of superheroes. She was cast as Wonder Woman in the failed NBC pilot by David E. Kelley back in 2011. She was also in the failed WB pilot for Aquaman, as Nadia an evil type character. Now she'll join the amazing cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and play an important Marvel character...important to Hawkeye's love life at least.
After years and years of script issues, director and studio creative differences, and actors leaving the project, Marvel's Ant-Man is finally under way with production starting today. Marvel Studios released an official statement announcing the beginning of filming also giving us a plot synopsis and full cast.
Seems like Latino Review has scooped some news about the plot of Star Wars: Episode VII. Its dealing mostly with the identity of the villains of at least the first installment of this new trilogy. Beware, if they're correct, this could be spoilery but for now I'm taking this news as strictly a rumor.
Well...by now you've likely seen this on the internet or if you've actually seen the film already. I was debating posting this since it's everywhere and not really news worthy but I figured that if nothing else, it'll make ya smile. There's a bit of spoilerish material in the clip, but nothing that would ruin the film for anyone. So....enjoy!
Thanks again to @FlashCWFansfor sending us some photos from the 'Batman v Superman' filming on location in Detroit, Michigan. All of these photos are of Ben Affleck on location as Bruce Wayne. Not too much to get excited about but at least we get to see how he looks as the billionaire playboy.
Much like many reading this right now, I was a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. For me, it started with the animated series. I didn't discover the comic book until I entered High School, which was much later. I had all the toys, I saw all the movies, I watched all the cartoons. I was a geek for the turtles. I'd spend time in class drawing the turtles, and to this day, I can still the draw them the exact same way I did back in fifth grade...which is to say, not very well. I enjoyed the films, and the Turtles will always hold a place in my heart. I was skeptical, to say the least, for this new version of my favorite heroes in the half shell. It didn't help matters when I discovered Michael Bay was involved.
Well, as impatient as we geeks are for this film, Warner Bros/DC has decided to not make us wait quite as long to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They've moved the release date from May 6th, 2016 (in direct competition with Captain America 3) to March 25th, 2016. They've also announced their film release plans for the next several years.
When I was growing up, my dad and I didn’t spend a lot of time together watching TV. We had different interests. I like Ninja Turtles and G.I. Joe; he liked Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson. We were in different worlds with different viewing preferences. Then one day, I saw him watching some show with guys in different color shirts carrying laser pistols. I was amazed that my dad would be watching something so cool. Even better, he let me watch it with him! We watched Kirk and Spock battle a strange looking orange blob thing in some caves and it was awesome! After the episode my dad explained a bit about the show and I was hooked from that day on. You trekkies out there already know which episode my dad and I watched but for those who don’t, it was Episode 25 of Season 1 “The Devil in the Dark”.
Many, many thanks to @FlashCWFansfor sending us some photos from the Batman v Superman filming on location in Detroit, Michigan. Most of the pictures depict various Metropolis emergency vehicles, and mass destruction. You can also see Zack Snyder walking around as well.
Marvel has been destroying the box office with its series of films in a connected universe. We've seen the big guns, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor (the male version.) Even the semi-lesser known characters of Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. When the film 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was announced, I was forced to go "huh." I knew about them, but i wasn't nearly as well-versed into their mythology and was wondering why this was on their slate of films to make. Warning, SPOILERS ahead!
Earlier today we had casting news on Arrow, not to be outdone, The Flash has cast the character Plastique for episode five. E! Online is reporting that Kelly Frye has landed the role of Plastique aka Bette Sans Souci. The character herself is described as a bomb disposal expert in Iraq who, following exposure to the energy released by the S.T.A.R. Labs explosion. Bette now has the ability to turn any object she touches into an explosive.
It seems as though DC and Warner Bros are going all out this season on both The Flash and Arrow. Joining the already large cast of comic book characters will be Wildcat aka Ted Grant. He'll jump into the Arrow Universe in a large way, having a “a pivotal role in Laurel Lance’s arc this season.”
We finally get our first real taste of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 with the following teaser trailer that was released over the weekend at SDCC. It's only about a minute long but it shows us actual film footage, whereas all we've seen so far are the two videos hyping up The Capitol's way of doing things.
Last night during the WB Television Studios panel at SDCC, a brand new, extended trailer for Arrow's third season was screened. The biggest difference from the one that was shown earlier this week? Ra's al Ghul.
The evening began with a very long montage video of all the films, heroes, villains including Guardians of the Galaxy and a great look at Thanos. Kevin Feige came out and said they're focusing on 2015, which means Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-man which they began with.
Well...DC/Warner Bros started off Day 3 of SDCC with a bang. They brought out Zack Snyder and he debuted a teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, showing a rainy Gotham rooftop and Batman standing atop wearing a very Frank Miller-y armor suit. He pulls a tarp off of a Bat Signal that illuminates in the sky revealing a very angry Superman with red eyes. We also got a great glimpse at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and I have to say...my doubts have receded a bit. Take a look.
Yesterday we got news from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at SDCC about some new cast members joining the show. Lucy Lawless (Xena, Battlestar Galactica, Spartacus) will be portraying long time agent Isabelle Hartley. Nick Blood will play a mercenary character named Lance Hunter. Reed Diamond (Dollhouse, 24, Much Ado About Nothing) is going to be the main villain of Season 2, Daniel Whitehall aka Kraken. And with this intro video before the panel started, Patton Oswalt hints at another character we may see.
